Episode 413 - Fun Do
Bottled Cookies
Self-serve cookies...
Looking for the perfect gift to give to your friends? How about a delicious cookie recipe? Even better, how about assembling the ingredients for them in bottles beforehand? Fun to do, the only items your friends will need to provide are two eggs and 1 cup of butter. It's as easy as one, two, three!

JAR #1: "Shake me up!"

  • 2 ½ cups oatmeal
  • 2 cups white all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • parchment paper
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • ¼ tsp salt

Roll parchment paper into a funnel, and place into Mason jar. Add oatmeal, flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Put lid on bottle. Attach a tiny round tag with #1 written on it. Attach a label to the front of the jar, with "Shake me up!" written on it.

JAR #2: Cream me with 2 eggs, and 1 cup butter"

  • ¾ cup brown sugar
  • ¾ cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tsp orange zest

Using homemade funnel again, add brown sugar, granulated sugar, and orange zest, keeping with the layered look. Put lid on bottle. Attach tag #2. Attach label to front of jar with "Cream me with 2 eggs, and 1 cup butter" written on it.

JAR #3: "Add me to 1 and 2"

  • 12 oz. chips (can use chocolate, butterscotch, whatever you choose)
  • ½ cup chopped almonds
  • ½ cup chopped pecans
  • ½ cup shredded coconut
  • ½ cup walnuts

Using funnel, add chips (I added 6 oz. butterscotch chips, and 6 oz. chocolate chips) to jar. Add almonds, pecans, coconut, and walnuts. Put lid on bottle. Attach tag #3. Attach label to front of jar with "Add me to 1 and 2" written on it.

Attach a red and white dotted ribbon around each lid and assemble the three jars into a wire basket filled with straw. Creates a nice look. Attach a recipe card, saying, "One, two, three… easy cookie recipe. Follow the steps, roll us into ping-pong ball size and bake us for 10 min. in a 375 degree pre-heated oven. Cool and enjoy!"

Tastes wonderful and fun to do; you'll enjoy them, and your friends will too!
